Advocacy

Over the last few years, I have grown to be passionate about advocacy. I've seen firsthand how psychological services in primary care can make a huge difference and I am committed to seeing a more widespread adoption of this model in British Columbia!

Integrated primary care services have decades of research behind them and are widely accepted as the standard of care around the world, yet British Columbia has yet to embrace such a model. Evidence suggests that adoption of this model of care improves patient health, improves patient experience, reduces overall cost to the medical system, reduces care team burnout, and improves healthcare system productivity. I have been fortunate enough to work with stellar psychologists to create the Primary Care Psychologist (PCPsych) proposal, which has been submitted to the government for review.

In 2021 I won the BC Psychological Association's Advocacy Award for my work in primary care integration. Currently, I am the Vice President of the British Columbia Psychological Association (BCPA) and the Chair of the Advocacy Committee.

Please feel free to take a look at some of the presentations, proposals, and media interviews I have given on this topic!
